The University of Southern Mississippi is inviting applications for a Master of Science (M.S.) position within its Division of Coastal Sciences, part of the School of Ocean Science and Engineering. This opportunity is based at the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, a leading marine research facility on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Eligibility for Southern Mississippi Graduate Scholarship
Ideal candidates should be enthusiastic about acquiring new research skills and hold a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in ecology, geography, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0. While not mandatory, experience in quantitative modeling or GIS/Remote Sensing is preferred.
Requirements for the University of Southern Mississippi Graduate Scholarship Program
The selected graduate student will embark on their studies in the fall semester of 2024. Their research will focus on assessing the effects of climate change and sea-level rise on coastal wetlands and contributing to the design of living shoreline projects.
The role involves conducting field experiments, computer simulations, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to explore these issues from a social science viewpoint.
