Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals

Eligibility for  for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals Scholarship

To be eligible for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals, you must:

  • Be a citizen of one of the 41 countries that is eligible for the scholarship. See the list of eligible countries here.
  • Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the scholarship. There are over 700 master’s programmes taught in English starting in the Fall semester 2024 and are eligible for the scholarship. See the list of eligible programmes here.
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions. You can check your fee status here.
  • Have demonstrated work experience. You must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of demonstrated work experience. You can include both full-time and part-time employment, paid or unpaid internships, and voluntary work. You must also have relevant work experience from your current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.
  • Have demonstrated leadership experience. You must have demonstrated leadership experience from your current or previous employment, or from civil society engagement. You must also have a clear idea of how you can contribute to the sustainable development of your home country and region with the knowledge and skills you will acquire in Sweden.

Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP)  Application process

The application process for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals consists of two steps: applying for a master’s programme at University Admissions, and applying for the scholarship at the SI Scholarship portal. You must complete both steps in order to be considered for the scholarship. Here are the key dates and deadlines for the application process:

Scholarship Selection process

The selection process for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is based on a holistic assessment of the applicants’ academic background, work experience, leadership experience, and motivation. The selection process consists of three stages: eligibility screening, quality review, and final selection. Here are the main criteria and aspects that are evaluated at each stage:

  • Eligibility screening: The applications are screened for eligibility based on the criteria mentioned above. Only eligible applications are forwarded to the next stage.
  • Quality review: The applications are reviewed and scored by a team of external experts based on the following aspects: relevance and quality of the master’s programme choices, relevance and quality of the work experience, relevance and quality of the leadership experience, and clarity and impact of the motivation letter.
  • Final selection: The applications are ranked based on the scores from the quality review. The top-ranked applications are selected for the scholarship, taking into account the diversity of the applicants in terms of country of citizenship, gender, and academic fields.

The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes:

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.
  • A monthly payment of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
  • Insurance against illness and accident.
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).
